AI interior design tools, compared
Three kinds of tool, what each is for, and what it costs from its own site as of October 25, 2026. One of them is ours, and it says so.
Choose by what you need, not by ranking
Toriva is one of the tools on this page, so read our entry as the maker describing it. Everything said about the others comes from their own websites, linked on each card. We have not scored or ranked them.
“AI interior design” covers three different things: apps that restyle a photo of your actual room, floor planners that build the room in 3D, and general AI image models you prompt in plain words. Each does one of these well. Pick the kind first, then the tool.
Redesign a photo of your room
Upload a photo, pick a style, get the same room redesigned.
This is what most people mean by "AI interior design". The output is a picture, not a plan: good for deciding on a style, not for checking that a sofa fits. The differences between tools are how much of the real room they keep, how many styles and modes they offer, and whether you can buy what you see.
Toriva Home Design (ours)
- What it does
- Upload a room photo, pick one of 8 styles (Traditional, Modern, Farmhouse, Luxury, Coastal, Scandinavian, Midcentury and Bohemian) and either "New furniture" or "Keep my layout". "Shop the room" picks out up to 15 items in the result and finds similar pieces for each with Google Lens. A budget slider ($500 to $20k+) sets how expensive the furniture looks.
- Price
- 3 credits a redesign. 3 free credits on sign-up; plans from $15 a month for 30 credits.
- Note
- Downloads are watermarked until you are on a plan. A redesign that fails or changes nothing gives its credits back.
Better choice when: You want your real room restyled in a few clicks, with the option to keep the furniture where it is. It runs on the virtual staging engine we built for real estate listings, where the walls, windows and floor are not allowed to move.

Plan a layout in 2D or 3D
Floor planners with furniture libraries and rendering. AI is a helper, not the whole product.
You build the room to its real dimensions, place real furniture models and then render it. Slower than a photo restyle and you start from a plan rather than your photo, but it is the only kind here that tells you whether things fit.
Planner 5D
- What it does
- 2D and 3D floor plans and room layouts on web and mobile. AI floor-plan recognition turns an uploaded plan into an editable 3D project; "AI Studio" generates and edits images.
- Price
- Free plan (half the furniture catalogue); Premium $19.99/mo or $59.99/yr; Professional $49.99/mo or $399.99/yr
- Note
- The pricing page shows € figures; these USD figures are from the same page’s FAQ.
Better choice when: You are planning a renovation or move and need the room to measure, not just to look right.

- Price
- Basic free; Pro $29; Elite $69

- The page does not say whether Pro and Elite are monthly or yearly.

General AI image models, by prompt
ChatGPT, Gemini and similar assistants that edit an uploaded photo from a text description.
No style menu: you describe the change. They are excellent at one targeted edit and free or nearly so, but every result is a fresh guess, so keeping the same room consistent across several tries takes careful prompting. Because nothing in the tool is told to protect the walls and windows, check that they survived.
Google Gemini (Nano Banana)
- What it does
- A general image model: upload a photo and describe the change in words. Google’s page says it can replace objects and add elements while keeping the details you like.
- Price
- Nano Banana 2 listed as free; the newest model needs a Google AI plan
- Note
- Usage limits are not given as numbers on the page.
Better choice when: You want one specific change ("make the sofa green") and can write a precise prompt.

How to choose
You want to see your own room in a new style
Use a photo-redesign tool. Shoot the room straight on in daylight, try two or three styles, and keep the furniture in place if you only want new finishes and decor.
You need to know what fits
Use a 2D/3D planner. A restyled photo cannot tell you whether a sectional clears the doorway; a plan drawn to real measurements can.
You are still collecting ideas
A general image model or the free tier of any tool above is enough. Pay only once you know the style and want full-resolution results of your own room.
Competitor details were read from each tool's own website on October 25, 2026, in the currency shown there. Where a site did not publish a price it is marked “Not listed publicly” rather than guessed. Prices and promotions change; check theirs before deciding. Toriva's side is read from the product's own price list.
Questions about
AI room design
Why is this not a ranked top ten?
Because we did not run a scored test of every tool, and a ranking would pretend we had. The tools also do different jobs: a 3D planner and a photo restyle app are not competing for first place. This page compares what each one says it does and charges, from its own site. Are free AI room design tools any good?
For trying a style, yes. Several tools above have a free tier or free first designs (Planner 5D, Homestyler and Coohom have free plans; REimagineHome lists five free designs; MeltFlex one). Free results are usually limited in number or resolution, or watermarked. Toriva gives 3 free credits on sign-up, enough for one redesign, with watermarked downloads until you choose a plan. Can AI keep my furniture layout?
Some tools have a mode for it: Interior AI calls it style transfer, and Toriva's "Keep my layout" restyles around the furniture you have instead of replacing it. Expect the pieces to stay in place but their finishes, fabrics and decor to change; for an exact layout plan, use a 3D planner. Can I buy the furniture shown in the design?
Some tools link products. MeltFlex and REimagineHome show real products in the design; HomeDesigns AI lists a furniture finder. Toriva's "Shop the room" detects up to 15 items in the result and finds similar pieces for each with Google Lens, not the exact item, since the furniture in an AI image is generated. Will it change my walls or windows?
It should not, but check. Redesign tools aim to keep the architecture (HomeDesigns AI says so explicitly), and Toriva's engine is built to keep walls, windows and floors in place because it was made for real estate photos. General image models are not told to protect them, so compare the windows and doorways before and after.Where do the prices come from?
From each tool's own website, read on October 25, 2026, linked on every card. Where a site did not show a price we say "Not listed publicly" instead of guessing. Prices and promotions change often in this category; check theirs before paying.
