Virtual staging for a kitchen

Kitchens are rarely empty, so this is usually a decluttering and restyling job rather than a furnishing one.

  • 3 credits a room, whatever the style
  • Works from one photo — furnish it, restyle it, or empty it first
  • Consistent across several angles of the same room

What matters in a kitchen

Clearing the counters and adding a small amount of styling — a bowl, a board, stools at the island. Kitchens are where overstaging shows most: a counter crowded with props reads as staged, and buyers discount everything else on the listing.

Shooting for it

If the counters are covered in mail and appliances, run declutter first at 2 credits, then decide whether it needs staging at all.

Before you stage it

  • Declutter and staging are different jobs on the same photo: declutter at 2 credits clears the counters and keeps what is there, staging at 3 adds stools and a table. Staging should follow a declutter run, not replace it.
  • Kitchens with an island or a breakfast nook stage well. A galley kitchen with no eating area rarely needs staging at all.
  • If it is only cluttered rather than badly furnished, declutter at 2 credits is cheaper and keeps the real furniture.
  • Staging adds content that was not in the frame. Export with the "virtually staged" stamp where your MLS requires it.
  • It stages rooms, it does not renovate them. Worktops, walls and windows stay as they are.

Staging a kitchen:
questions

  • Does staging a kitchen change the cabinets or worktops?
No. Staging adds furniture and props, such as stools, a table or a bowl on the counter, and leaves cabinets, worktops, appliances and windows as they are. If the kitchen itself needs to look different, that is a renovation render, which Toriva does not do.
  • How much does it cost to stage a kitchen?
3 credits per room, the same as every other room type. On a monthly plan that is roughly a dollar a room. There is no separate charge to download the result.
  • Can I try more than one style on the same room?
Yes, each run costs 3 credits. Agents often want to see two options for the main rooms, which is worth pricing into what you charge for the shoot.
  • What if the kitchen already has furniture?
Use Keep Layout to restyle around what is there, or Empty Room to clear it and stage from scratch. Which one you want usually depends on whether the existing furniture is the problem.
  • Do staged photos need a disclaimer?
Several MLS markets require one. Exports can carry a "virtually staged" or "digitally altered" stamp in the corner. Check your own MLS rules.
